VVCC What We Believe WEB We believe that the entire Bible is the inspired and divine word of God. Therefore, it is the guide for both Christians and churches for any time and in any culture.

We believe in God the Father, God the Son, and God the Spirit as one God, but with each fulfilling distinct roles within the Godhead.

We believe God is the creator of the universe. Therefore, the earth and universe are not the result of random chance.

We believe in Jesus Christ, who is the Son of God, Messiah, and Savior. Jesus was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died on the cross, and rose from the grave on the third day. As Lord and Savior he will one day return for His church.

We believe that salvation comes only through Jesus Christ. Salvation cannot be earned; it is a gift of God.

We believe faith in Jesus is how salvation is accepted. Faith requires repentance of sins, confession of Jesus Christ as Lord before witnesses, baptism by immersion, and obedience to the word of God.

We believe everyone who accepts Jesus receives the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit works in the Christian’s life as a Teacher, Guide, Comforter, and Mediator. The Holy Spirit gives gifts to each Christian to be used to carry out the work and ministry of the church.

We believe the church is the Body of Christ on earth. Christ’s church is called to model the character and love of Christ. It is the responsibility of the church to ensure the health of Christ’s body and help people come to a relationship with Jesus until He returns.

We believe weekly communion is a vital part of living life with Jesus. Participation in the Lord’s Supper allows Christians not only to share in the blood and body of Christ, they are also reminded of His incredible grace and mercy.

Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving. See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ.

(Colossians 2:6-8, ESV)
