Brandon Shaffer

Lead Pastor & Leader of Pursue God Ministries
After holding ministries in Texas and Missouri, Brandon moved with his family to New Mexico in November of 2001 to become the Lead Pastor of Valley View Christian Church in Edgewood. Brandon is a native of Bucklin, KS (27 miles southeast of Dodge City since you had to ask) and grew up attending the Bucklin Christian Church, where he accepted Christ at the age of 10.  While attending Bucklin Christian he got the tug for ministry in high school when he started helping in Children's Church.  He completed a BA in Bible & Pastoral Ministries from Dallas Christian College in 1994 and a Masters in Biblical and Related Studies from Abilene Christian University in 1996. More than being a pastor, Brandon is most passionate to be husband to Tara and dad to Zac, Libbie, Joel & Seth.

Brandon’s duties at Valley View include preaching, leading the staff and overseeing Pursue God Ministries, which covers details of Valley View's Weekend Gatherings. 

Leonard Navarre

Associate Pastor & Leader of Build Community Ministries
After serving in churches in New Mexico, Texas, Louisiana and Oklahoma, Leonard joined the staff of Valley View in September of 2007.  Leonard was born and raised in Lake Charles, LA.  At that age of 9, Leonard gave his life to Christ and was baptized at church camp in Lake Arthur, LA.  He grew up attending First Church of Christ is Lake Charles.  Leonard graduated with a BA from Dallas Christian College in 1971.  He also holds an MA in Religious Studies from Bellford University.  While studying at Dallas Christian College, he met and married his wife Diana.  Leonard and Diana have two children, both of whom are involved in fulltime ministry.  Tara Shaffer, their daughter, is married to Valley View’s lead pastor Brandon Shaffer.  The two have four children: Zachary, Libbie, Joel and Seth.  Their son Brandon Navarre and his wife Lisa reside in Rockdale, TX where Brandon serves as the pastor of Forest Grove Christian Church.  Brandon and Lisa have two daughters, Madeline and Abbie, and a son, Luke.

Before coming to Valley View, Leonard spent 40 years in the preaching ministry.  He is also a Licensed Church Consultant through Church Central and is available for speaking engagements and consulting.  For more information visit: www.navarreministries.org.

Leonard’s primary role at Valley View is leading Build Community Ministries.  He also serves in the area of Men Ministry, Adult Bible Fellowship and Preaching.

Jesse Clifton

Youth Pastor

Jesse was born in Albuquerque NM.  He grew up attending Valley View Christian Church and was baptized at the age of 8.  While attending Hope Christian High School, Jesse met his future wife Caitlin.  He also gained experience on the mission field through school and church sponsored trips.  Those trips were the foundation of his call to ministry.  In 2010, Jesse married his wife Caitlin and in 2011 became the Youth Pastor for Valley View.  Currently, Jesse is working toward a BA in Philosophy at the University of New Mexico.  He plans on obtaining further education in seminary.

Jesse's role at Valley View is to oversee all of VVCC's NextGen programs, classes and projects.  He also teaches High School and College Bible Studies.  Jesse still enjoys organizing mission trips in addition to his NextGen responsibilites.

Jesse and Caitlin's first child, Twila, was born in October 2011.

Sue Schoening

Administrative Assistant
Sue was born is Stamford, CT and moved to California with her family in 1963. She worked for the US Postal Service for 32 years, which is where she met her husband John.  Sue and John moved from San Diego to Edgewood in 2002.  They very much enjoy the different New Mexico lifestyle, being near family and serving the Lord at Valley View.  Sue and John have one son Bryan.  Bryan and his wife Peggy live in Colorado with their two children Brandon and Jenna.  Sue feels that God has truly blessed her with a wonderful marriage, family and life of contentment.  She gave her life to Christ is 1985 and believes that it was the best and most important choice she ever made.
