Leadership
Valley View Christian Church is an independent non-denominational church. We have no denominational affiliation mandating how the church is operated. Instead, Valley View is lead by a group of Elders who were selected by members of the church.
Tom Schafer
Tom was born and raised in the Albuquerque area. He accepted Christ through a campus ministry while in high school. Tom met and married his wife, Teri, in 1985. Since then the two of them have been blessed with five children. Tom has been involved with Youth for Christ as a river raft guide and leader as well as being a board member of the Carenet Pregnancy Center of Albuquerque. Together, Teri and Tom have been foster parents with Families for Children for many years. At Valley View, Tom has been involved with teaching kids of all ages as well as adults. Tom’s goal in life is to be known as a Christian man of integrity who is the ultimate husband and father.
John Schoening
John and his wife Sue moved to New Mexico after living in California for more than 35 years. John is a Vietnam Veteran who went to work with the Post Office where he met and married his wife Sue. The Lord blessed them with a life of being pretty much inseparable; working together at the Post Office everyday, at home and in their service to the Lord. John is retired and Sue serves on the Valley View staff as the Administrative Assistant. They have a son Bryan, daughter-in-law, Peggy and two precious grandchildren Brandon and Jenna who live in Colorado. John, Sue and Bryan all accepted Christ as their Savior in 1985.
Jason Weaver
Jason and his wife, Jeneane, grew up in Colorado and moved to New Mexico when they were married in 1986. They both have attended church all their lives and accepted Christ in their teenage years. They first attended Valley View Christian Church in January, 1987, just weeks after Valley View began. The Weavers have three children: Josh, Whitney, and Ashley. Jason and Jeneane started studying God’s plan for marriage in 1992 and began hosting a small group marriage study a few years later. They are still very active in leading biblical marriage studies at Valley View. Jason works as a structural engineer in Albuquerque and Jeneane is a stay-at-home Mom who is very active in numerous church activities as well as volunteering in the community and providing day care for friends.
